A Mathematical Mechanism of Infrared Catastrophe
نویسنده
چکیده
We derive a mathematical mechanism of infrared catastrophe from the idea for the proof in [22, 23] and generalize it so that we can apply it to several models in quantum field theory. We define the Carleman operator from the operator-theoretical pull-through formula on ground states. Characterizing infrared catastrophe by the Carleman operator, we study the mechanism of infrared catastrophe. And moreover, based on the mechanism, we show some proofs of absence of ground state.

Characterization of Infrared Catastrophe by The Carleman Operator and Its Singularity
This paper addresses some mathematical problems arising from the infrared (IR) catastrophe in quantum field theory. IR catastrophe is formulated and studied in operator theory, characterized by the Carleman operator. Non-existence of ground state under IR catastrophe is also investigated with the help of the characterization. The theory presented in this paper is applied to the Hamiltonian of t...
متن کاملEquilibrium and Non-equilibrium Quantum Field Theory
We first focus in Chapter 2 on infrared effects in finite–temperature quantum field theory. We propose a simple mathematical method (based on the largest–time equation and the Dyson–Schwinger equations) which allows systematic calculations of the change of density in energy/particles in heat–bath during a scattering/decay of external particles within the heat bath. A careful analysis reveals th...
متن کاملInfrared Catastrophe for Nelson’s Model
We study the infrared catastrophe for Nelson’s Hamiltonian, which has the external potential in a general class. We show that both, the divergence of the total number of soft photons and non-existence of any ground state, are due to the common reason under general conditions.

This paper addresses the infrared (IR) catastrophe appearing in quantum field theory. IR catastrophe is formulated and studied in operator theory, characterized by the Carleman operator. The theory presented in this paper is applied to the Hamiltonian of the model describing a non-relativistic electron coupled with a quantum field of phonons or polaritons in the light of mathematics as well as ...
متن کامل1/f spectral trend and frequency power law of lossy media
The dissipation of acoustic wave propagation has long been found to obey an empirical power function of frequency, whose exponent parameter varies through different media. This note aims to unveil the inherent relationship between this dissipative frequency power law and 1/f spectral trend. Accordingly, the 1/f spectral trend can physically be interpreted via the media dissipation mechanism, so...
